KERRI GRAFF, PhD, Licensed psychologist

divorce & Co-parenting specialist

I believe in the magic of new beginnings.

You’re in the right place.

Hi, I’m Dr. Kerri

I am a licensed psychologist in New Jersey and New York. I specialize in relationship decisions, navigating divorce, co-parenting, post-separation abuse, and healing from abusive relationships, including narcissistic abuse and coercive control. Over the last 20 years, I have worked closely with my clients to reach their personal goals. I am strongly committed to empowering you to make any needed changes in your life and be your best self. Together, we will work through your feelings, connect with hope, and build a positive path forward.

Through my own difficult divorce journey, I gained greater strength, confidence, peace, and happiness than I ever could have imagined. Our children were 5 and 7 at the time we separated, and are now 17 and 19 years old. It has been a roller coaster ride of mediation, family court, co-parenting, balancing life as a single mom, and more. While it has often been a challenging ride, I have learned so much through my own experience and through our children’s experiences. I am also beyond grateful for a bright life after divorce, with my husband and blended family. Four teenagers/young adults and three dogs keep us all very busy. You will likely “meet” the pups during our sessions!

In my free time, I enjoy traveling to new places, listening to music, baking creative desserts, and running along the shore. Whenever possible, I love to be near the water. I appreciate the gentle stillness of lake waters and how they invite reflection and a sense of peace and calm. I am also drawn to the rhythmic waves of the ocean and how they are always moving and changing.

.Just as we can’t stop the waves from coming, we can’t change the past.

Together, we CAN learn to ride your life’s waves and navigate your healing journey.

I completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology through the Brooklyn College Scholars Program and earned my Doctorate in Counseling Psychology at the University at Buffalo. I completed an APA-accredited internship at the University of Delaware Center for Counseling and Student Development. Prior to private practice, I served as a staff psychologist at the University at Buffalo Counseling Center and as the Director of the Day Treatment Program and therapist at the Renfrew Center of New Jersey. In 2014, I founded the Ocean Waves Wellness Center, a mind-body wellness center involving talk therapy and boutique fitness programs. Following the COVID pandemic, I modified my practice for telehealth and as of 2024, transitioned to exclusively telehealth.

I am a certified family and divorce mediator, a certified co-parenting specialist, a certified parent coordinator, and a certified high conflict divorce coach. I have additional advanced clinician certificates in coercive control and treating narcissistic abuse as well as advanced training in understanding the ongoing needs of families navigating trauma and/or high-conflict divorce.

My extensive advanced training and personal experiences have shaped my passion in helping others and make me uniquely qualified to help you through all the waves of your divorce.

Together, we will work on embracing your new beginnings and meeting your goals. I like to think outside the box and have developed strategies to meet your needs in an innovative way. I will be your therapist and mentor, and will guide you to realize your own power, passion and purpose.

How I work

We will build real, practical tools that you can apply to your day-to-day life.

I tailor my approach to therapy to meet your unique needs. I will teach you creative new coping tools and will guide you towards a greater understanding of yourself. I am driven to help you gain insight into your relationships and make decisions that are right for you, including when to stay and when it may be best to leave. These decisions are often complex, confusing, and painful, with lots of pieces to sort through.

I will help you to express your feelings and needs and heal from relationship changes, loss, divorce, coercive control, and narcissistic abuse.

We can work on trusting your own voice, challenging critical internalized messages, co-parenting with a difficult or narcissistic ex, setting healthy boundaries, navigating blended family dynamics, strengthening your independent identity, recognizing red and green flags, and building healthier relationships.

In addition to providing individual therapy, I also offer co-parenting consulting, parenting plan consulting, and divorce mediation. I assist couples in amicably separating, without litigation. I help parents of pre/post divorce families move forward in a positive manner, maintaining a focus on meeting the needs of their children. I also help parents develop a detailed parenting plan, improve communication, build mutual decision-making skills, and develop a healthier working relationship.
